Why did I make a blog?

Back when I was around thirteen years of age, I created a blog website on one of those basic blog post builders. It was a joint blog with my best friend, Libby, and we posted very cliché things such as 'the dangers of social media' and 'why I love memes'. It was silly, but I loved it. I then deleted the page about a year later because I was embarrassed. A boy in my class found my website and I just froze. I felt as though I was being exposed, like people shouldn’t know the real me. So I deleted it. I felt so embarrassed. The revival I created a YouTube account during 2015, just to post quite pointless, daily vlogs. The reason I have my YouTube channel is not to gain subscribers, views, or popularity. I have it to maintain memories, to keep track of how my life changes and how I can get inspired to change. I made a YouTube channel so that when I am in my 80s, barely being able to walk, I can watch my videos back from when I was a carefree teenager and reminisce on how good life was. Not only this, but I want to inspire other people to do the same. I want other people to feel like they too can document their memories, without feeling pressured to gain popularity. My friends have also thanked me countless times for creating such videos, saying that it truly makes them happy and allows them to reminisce. That’s why I do it – so myself and those who are close to me can remember moments most important to them.

I created a blog on a similar premise. Just like my YouTube channel, I want to share. I feel like I have a lot to say. I want to teach others about things, I want to help people, I want everyone to know that you can share what you believe in, no matter who you are. There’s literally nothing special about me at all, so why has what I have got to say be so important? That’s not the point. What I have to say is not important, It’s just a perspective. It’s almost like a diary – it’s not really for anyone else and I doubt I’ll have many readers at all, as long as it is out there then I am fine.

I really want to emphasise that you don't have to feel 'qualified' in any way to write. I haven't got an English degree, I haven't even studied English A-level, but writing is not about how professionally you can write. I'm not an expert in anything, I'm definitely not an expert in life but I still want to write about certain things in life. It's okay, all you need it passion and a bit of inspiration to leave your readers with.

I want to let everyone know that I am ALWAYS HERE. I would love to talk to any one of you. I don’t mind what it is about, it can be about anything. I believe in the idea that listening is a powerful tool so I’m here to be a listener. Drop me an email on the contact section on my homepage, or DM me on Twitter @aurorazxo. I’ll always respond, no matter what. This was a brief introduction, but the first of many blog posts to come.

I’d like to thank you for even going so far as to reading this post, it means a lot. Stay tuned! - Aurora Z Comments
